Memorial Biography

Mary Ann Kelleher, age 92, died peacefully Saturday, July 14, 2018. Mary Ann was a life long resident of Marblehead; daughter of the late Anne Cunningham Freeto of Swinford, County Mayo, Ireland and Raymond L. Freeto of Marblehead. Mary Ann was pre-deceased by her husband, Daniel J. Kelleher and her three siblings and their spouses: Raymond Jr. and Barbara Freeto, Charles and June Freeto and Wilfred and Eileen (Freeto) St. Pierre. Mary Ann is survived by her only child, Mary Ellen Kelleher of Marblehead, her two beloved granddaughters: Liana Rose Veda and Dania Eileen Rojas, a special “grandson” AJ Nunez, two nieces: Nancy Freeto Hosman and Janet Freeto Smedile and a nephew: Edward St. Pierre. Mary Ann dedicated her life to caring for her family, extended family and her dogs. During her younger years she volunteered much of her time to Our Lady Star of the Sea. She headed many church committees, mother’s club, sang in the Paul Madore choir and sewed and knitted hundreds of items for the yearly charity bazaar. During her later years, Mary Ann made a full time commitment to her granddaughters as their “second-mother”, baby sitter, study-buddy, homework helper, personal chef, cheerleader and chauffer! Two days before her passing, Mary Ann asked Ellen to sing “Marblehead Forever” as she clapped her hands. Mary Ann’s departing words…”down bucket”. Waterside Cemetery, graveside service: Friday, August 10, 2018 @ 11:00 am
